Tensions had been running high in the field for weeks. As Executive Branch Manager, Hershey feared for her job - that much was obvious. In the interest of downsizing, Corporate had brought in an Assistant Branch Manager who'd been busy learning the ropes and was willing to work for scraps.
Truth was, she was chewing into their profits and needed to be kept on a tight leash. There was no training that mouthbreather to manage a branch this big.
Hershey knew the owners expected her to roll over and play dead, but they were barking up the wrong tree. If Corporate wanted her to take a walk, they'd at least have to throw her a bone.
This was a dog eat dog world and that little bitch was at the end of her stick.
